Although no documented executions took place at Yuma, over 3,000 prisoners were kept in the prison from 1876 until 1909. The solitary confinement cells, also referred to as the "dark cells" are famous for paranormal activity. It is said that one of the spirits of the dark cells especially loves to pinch visitors who are wearing the color red.

  • Gal who works in the gift shop was pushed.

    I recently visited this awesome site and the friendly girl who was working in the gift shop shared her stories with me and honestly, I just believed her. She showed me a picture on her phone she'd taken of one of the cells and there was the unmistakable siloutte of a prisoner behind the bars. She also said as she was leaving the place one night and was passing through the opening to the prison something shoved her on her way out. She said it so matter of factly, like she had nothing to prove. Actually, what she said was that she was open to the paranormal and knew they were there but didn't need the shove to prove it! She also said the noises are constant as are things falling and moving around. Even though I didn't have any experiences per se the general energy in that place is palpable and unsettling. It's also just an extraordinary series of structures. I highly recommend it. The town of Yuma is something else too. A really unique place. And HOT ...

  • Not Haunted.

    I have been there many times. I have never been pinched. While thedark cell is creepy, I have not felt any presences there. I am also very sensitive to paranormal activity, but I've never felt anything here. It is a fun place to visit, though.
